The Mythomania Project: File 1-2
"He settled into a loft downtown, using their money to fuel his new lifestyle of parties, drugs, and casual sex. His days became a lazy, uncommitted routine—just having fun, drifting through life, waiting for the inevitable day when he would finally land in the sterile confines of an air-condi- tioned office."
Chapter 3 - Between Present And Memories

Traits: Silent, mysterious, introverted, intelligent.
Tom Collins is the very embodiment of paradox: born under a lucky star, with loving parents and a life free of material concerns, yet he carries within him a shadow he can never fully dispel.
Tom Collins: A Man Between Two Worlds
From childhood, despite the idyllic setting, Tom straddled two worlds. His parents, though wealthy, remained humble, instilling in him values of modesty and respect. Yet within this cocoon of love, Tom felt oddly out of place, like a spectator in a play whose role he had never learned. This vague sense of purposelessness settled over him and drove him to retreat, to observe life from the sidelines, away from the spotlight.
An Introspective Journey
Tom’s introspection began early, marked by a quiet curiosity about the world and an innate ability to read people. However, this introspection lacked the resolve or assertiveness needed to shape his destiny. Instead, it left him vulnerable to the influence of stronger personalities—particularly Wayne, a figure who would later play a pivotal role in Tom’s life. Wayne became a catalyst for excess, pulling Tom into a downward spiral where boundaries blurred, and moral compasses shattered.
Complicity in Self-Destruction
Even as Tom recognized the self-destruction he was heading towards, he remained a passive participant, almost complicit in his own undoing. There was a strange comfort in the pain he inflicted on himself, as if every misstep was a penance he deserved. For Tom, each failure became a means of atonement for what he perceived as an original sin: the crime of existing without a purpose.
A Man of Hidden Depths
Beneath his stoic exterior lies a man grappling with profound internal conflict. Tom’s silence isn’t emptiness but a shield, a way of containing the chaos within. His intelligence and deep understanding of human nature are both a gift and a burden, leaving him painfully aware of his flaws and shortcomings. This duality makes him both intriguing and tragic, a man perpetually seeking meaning in a world that feels indifferent to his existence.
An Enigmatic Presence
While Tom’s journey unfolds subtly in Mythomania, his character invites readers to reflect on the weight of expectations, the burden of self-perception, and the quiet resilience required to face one’s inner demons. How far can a man go before breaking, and is redemption ever truly out of reach? These are questions that surround Tom, making him an enigmatic figure whose story is as compelling as it is haunting.
