The Mythomania Project: File 1-1
"Luck isn’t a cosmic force or chance; it’s just a fancy word to mask the baser instincts—the politically correct term for the law of the jungle. In the game of life, luck is just one card you play. You need to crush, seize, and show no mercy to make the most of it. It’s kill or be killed, becoming the best strategist on the battlefield..."
Chapter 8 - Laura's Diary: Love, Glory, Lies and Betrayal...

Traits: Jealous, insecure, deceitful, cruel, selfish, narcissistic, and constantly craving recognition and validation.
Long before becoming one of the central figures in Mythomania and the embodiment of evil within the plot, Laura Wilkins was inspired by a deeply troubling personality from my life. She represents someone toxic, complex, and devastating.
Laura is the unplanned child who quickly became the little princess of her family. I can still picture her, perched in her highchair like a queen on her throne. Even then, she was the delicate, precious child, the great hope—everything I was not.
Laura Wilkins: Lying as a Survival Tool From Childhood
Laura’s life was built on lies. In the beginning, her falsehoods were innocent, almost childlike—designed to gain attention or be accepted. She would tell stories to her schoolmates, fabricate achievements to shine. Yet beneath the surface, there was always an undercurrent of exaggeration and manipulation that hinted at the person she would become.
Her mother, Annie, fueled this dynamic. Laura was Annie’s pride and joy, the extension of her own ego. Through Laura, Annie sought to dazzle the other school moms. Birthday and Halloween parties were not just celebrations; they were social dominance displays, meant to provoke envy and inspire imitation. When other mothers fawned over her or tried to copy her ideas, Annie relished in the silent victory.
A Toxic Friendship: A Blueprint for Cruelty
Then there was Joy, Laura’s best friend. Joy epitomized the spoiled brat—the only child, arrogant and mean, who found cruel delight in bullying others. Laura trailed behind her like a shadow, fascinated and envious. But mimicking Joy wasn’t enough to soothe the growing monster inside her. Laura didn’t just want to reflect someone else’s light; she wanted to be the center of attention, the one everyone admired.
The Teenage Years: Fertile Ground for Cruelty
Laura’s toxicity grew slowly. By age 12, she manipulated those around her with alarming ease, ruling her little world through tantrums and calculated strategies. Between 13 and 15, her lack of popularity fed her jealousy and disdain for others. To stand out, she adopted a mini-rocker style, mirroring Joy’s tastes. Yet, she never achieved the impact she desired. Popularity remained out of reach, and her resentment festered.
In high school, she finally joined a group of friends, gaining a semblance of social validation. But this small triumph only fueled her arrogance and cruelty. Emboldened by her newfound status, she became increasingly tyrannical and domineering.
A Pivotal Turning Point
The real shift came through the internet. Laura connected with someone claiming to be the “niece” of her favorite singer. This virtual interaction fed her fantasies and love for deceit, cementing her descent into a toxic spiral. From then on, she transformed into a ruthless manipulator, willing to do anything to defend her illusions and crush anyone who stood in her way.
The Constant Need for Validation and Descent into Malice
To this day, Laura lives in a fantasy world. She remains trapped in her adolescent lies, perpetuating a distorted view of herself as a misunderstood victim. Over time, her cruelty has only deepened, and I’ve often wondered what fuels her ability to maintain such delusions of persecution and grandeur.
More than that, I’ve questioned what I could have done to deserve her wrath.
But only through the pages of Mythomania will you discover just how profoundly Laura can disrupt—or destroy—lives.
